Hi, I’m Darcy — Founder of Draft9.
When I first started my own business, I had no clue where to start online. Every option felt like a trap: cheap websites with hidden fees, SEO services that were overpriced and unclear, and endless sales pitches that didn’t explain anything. I just wanted something simple that worked.
I’ve always been good with tech — grew up in a family that loved computers. My Grando (our name for Grandpa) was the kind of guy who’d hack PlayStation games in his 60s, so I guess the tech curiosity runs deep.
Even so, creating a website and navigating digital marketing was a struggle. So I made a decision — if I couldn’t find someone to build the right website, I’d learn to do it myself.
I started with YouTube tutorials and small courses.
Then it became long nights and 10-hour learning sessions about web design, SEO, automation, and marketing. I even took a job in sales to learn how to write better copy and understand what actually sells.
That turned into a full-blown obsession. Five years later, it’s still what I love. My rule of thumb has always been — if it sticks around long enough for the next olympics, it’s a part of me. And building websites, designing systems, and creating automation that makes business easier — that’s my thing.
I held off on launching Draft9 until I felt confident I could deliver real results — the kind that make business life smoother, not harder.
Now, I build websites that work —
clean, fast, and connected to the tools you actually use. I set up automations and CRMs so you spend less time doing repetitive work and more time running your business.
And the name — Draft9 — means something to me.
It’s not just a brand; it’s part of who I am. My name’s Darcy Raftos, and I was born on June 9. When I was in Grade 1, my school gave me my first computer login: draft9. It was the first thing that felt like it was mine.
I grew up in a busy house — one of four kids (later 5) — so having my own username, my own digital space, was the first taste of digital independence I ever had. That name stuck with me ever since, and when it came time to start my business, it felt right to keep it.
Now Draft9 is my way of giving that same feeling to other business owners — ownership, clarity, and control over their websites and systems.
I run Draft9 solo, but I work closely with other skilled Australians when projects need more hands. Everything stays local, transparent, and done properly.
